Our Duties for Our Church!

Last Sunday, my husband became a Deacon of our Church. The pastor had asked him about being a Deacon awhile back (probably well before Christmas). Of course, my husband never jumped right into this. It is something that we had to pray about, research in our Bibles, and especially seek God's guidance for...if God really wanted my husband to fill the role as Deacon He would lead him there, and if He didn't want him to then my husband would not be led to do so. Obviously, if my husband decided to become a Deacon this would affect me as his wife as I would be the Deaconess of our Church (since I am his wife). I never pushed my husband...I told him either way was fine by me as long as God led him in the direction he was going and I never brought it up again. Every now and then when it was mentioned, I would ask if he had made his decision and if he said no, then I would leave it at that. I never pushed him one way or the other.  I did not want to influence him with this decision...this had to be between him and God so we sat, and patiently waited...we were still and let God lead us (as we should ALWAYS do in EVERYTHING we do...sometimes it is easy to forget to let God be in control, but we should always, and I mean ALWAYS allow Him to lead).

Anyhow, my husband finally was able to reach a decision.  He became a Deacon (and me a Deaconess) on Sunday, February 21, 2010.  The Church gathered around like the family we are...in a circle surrounding us and prayed that we would be able to fill the role that God has put us into...I too especially pray for this.  Of course, I pray for Him to help us fill this role in our Church, but I also pray for Him to help us in shining our light for Him everywhere we go...we want to do good in everything we do...inside and outside of Church.

Please pray for us in our new role as Deacon and Deaconess, that we may always be still, patient, and wait on God to lead us.

And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.Psalm 90:17
