Our Homemade Laundry Detergent

20131014_154437-1-2

Homemade laundry detergent. We put it in a smaller container for easy access during laundry time, but we have the rest stored to use later. It's enough to do over FIVE HUNDRED loads for under $30.00. When you consider we was paying anywhere between $10 and $20 for enough laundry detergent to do less than 60 loads of laundry...this is a HUGE savings. It also smells great and we find that it actually gets laundry even cleaner than what we were using...Justin had a stain on one of his jeans...the store bought detergent we were using wouldn't get it out, but this stuff did...first try!

What We Used:

1 Box of Super Washing Soda 3 lb. 7 oz.
1 Box of Borax 4 lbs 12 oz. size
1 Box of Pure Baking Soda 4 lb.
3 bars of Fels-Naptha 5.5 oz. or use Ivory soap
1 container of Oxy-Clean 1.3 lb
*optional: Purex Crystals 28 oz. for scent (or use Downy unstoppables )

What We Did:
1. Grated the Fels-Naptha bars.
2. Combined and mixed well all of the above.

To Use: 1 to 2 Tablespoons per load of laundry
