Decorating and Toys

Troys toysMy Mom recently gave me her village/nativity set, etc. that she had from when I was a kid, ya know, with the porcelain houses and things for Christmas.  Well Bre and I was in the process of getting everything out and looking at it then Troy decided he was going to play with his toys (his Legos and things).  I decided to snap this picture, because, I seem to continuously find things like this laying around our house, and might I say, I do find it rather cute sometimes!

Troys Message

Today we were walking out of the school as I was picking up the kids (where I was waiting patiently on both of them...and it honestly didn't take that long for the kids to come to where I was waiting) and Troy told me he was sorry it took him so long to come to where I was picking him up at, he then said the reason it took him so long was because he was making me this. A simple yet great message that made me smile...it said "Hi I Love you." :)

A Busy Weekend and an Update!

lilly1My husband and I have a busy weekend planned.  As I posted earlier this week, my Mom had her right lung transplant surgery on Sunday.  She is doing VERY well.  She is walking around and they even let her go without her oxygen for a bit today.  It is just AMAZING.  I mean from around two years ago..well over two years ago, actually, my Mom has been hooked to a hose...this is my lifeline she would say as she would pick up her oxygen hose.  It broke my heart and I felt helpless, although we were trying to do everything we could to keep her here with us (even if it was only for a little while longer).

My brother and me and Justin would take turns driving her back and forth every few months to the doctor so she could remain on the list for a transplant and I rode with her in the ambulance to the hospital (as they couldn't fly the day she received the call due to bad weather).  We all were scared and while her kids, her husband, her grandkids, and one of her sisters and her family were gathered around her encouraging her and even praying for her...she was not scared...she was excited to finally LIVE again!!

I remember the day that her surgery took place, Mom was not as scared as would be expected...I am just anxious to breathe, she said.  And...breathe she is...I am just overcome with joy.

At the same time...I realize that the donor's family is probably somewhere grieving the loss of this very special person.  The thought of this breaks my heart, but I am overcome with gratitude for what they have done.  SO MANY people got transplants done the day my Mom did...there were several, but at least four we know of...the right lung, the left lung, the heart, and the kidney and pancreas.  WOW...it is just truly amazing how God can guide these doctors to save people who would otherwise hopelessly die without something like this being done.  Again, WOW!!

Anyhow, Justin and I were supposed to leave for Charlottesville to head back up and sit with my Mom this weekend...we were actually supposed to leave out this evening.  But...Troy has ended up with poison ivy..and I mean in a bad kind of way.  So...I am not going to leave my little boy here being that way.  He has a follow-up doctors appointment in the morning and the plans are for us to leave out in the morning after his doctors appointment if he is all straightened out.

Shew, it's been an emotional week...a roller coaster ride of sorts for sure...from my Mom's transplant to my little boy's poison ivy...but I can honestly say that God works it all out and I thank Him for the many blessings He blesses us with!

Happy 2011!

We celebrated New Years Eve at home playing cards with friends.  And, yes we watched the ball drop when it was time.  Breann fell asleep on the couch but woke up when the ball was dropping and Troy...well...he slept through it all.  :0)

My September 2009 Updates

Let's see...I'm trying to think where to begin. September has been an EXTREMELY busy month.

My husband and I have started a Christmas drive with our Church and our community to help in benefiting the underprivileged children in the area who may not receive any gifts otherwise. We are now in the process of handmaking the stockings (thanks Mom!) and that is a huge task in itself as there are eighty stockings to have made up and ready to go by the 11th of December. This is our first year of doing something like this and I am sure it is going to be well worth it...to think of all of the kids who will now have gifts to open on Christmas morning who may not have had any gifts otherwise is truly amazing and God is blessing us TREMENDOUSLY with this project. It is my prayer that He continues to bless us with this project and we can really make a difference in these kids' lives.

We've gotten invites to a few different events for October. One is a Halloween party that one of our friends is hosting on the 24th and Hallelujah Night at another friend's Church for another night.

Justin got a promotion at work. It is a lot of work for him to get everything organized the way he needs for it to be but this is a huge change and one that he thinks of as positive so we are happy and thankful he got the promotion.

I think that about brings us up to date thusfar.

October is going to be just as (if not even more) busy as September...we have those events I just mentioned, plus Breann's birthday celebration, the kids' Fall Festival, and who knows what else. Keeping busy is a blessing though, as long as we are busy together as a family!

Fair 2009

We have had a blast at the county fair over the past few days...and while some photos was taken with my good camera, some were just taken when all I was carrying around was my cellphone...so some were taken by my cellphone camera...either way, I am glad I got to get these moments on camera!

From things as simple and fun to the kids eating ice cream...

To Justin getting the kids a balloon made from a clown there (the balloons were pretty cool...monkeys in a tree)...

To...Justin trying to climb the rock wall...

Fair 2009

To us seeing Billy Dean in concert (which I had saw him before, but it was years ago and this time around Breann and her friend Gracie got to meet him and get an autograph)...

img4715sitepicr

It was SO funny...as we were turning to leave after Breann got the autograph and picture done with Billy Dean, she turned around and said "Bye"(in kinda' a squealing/excited voice), and he kinda' mimicked her and told her bye.

Troy wasn't as much into the concert thing, but he had fun playing with his friend Hunter.

We also went to a section where they keep some animals and the kids got to see a few farm animals (and even hold a baby chick...and so did I)!

And we have even seen some roping competitions a few nights.

We have been to the fair a few times the past couple of days (and plan to go at least one or two more times before it ends, as we promised the kids...as long as the weather holds up and stuff that they could ride the rides once all of them are set up)...

Needless to say...we have had lots of fun!

Breann's First Ballgame and the Kids Day of Fun!

Breann had her first softball game on Saturday and her team won. The score was 4-2 and the four people who ran to home was upon her batting. Woo hoo! I was (and still am) so happy for her! She and her team did wonderful!

And...after Breann's softball game, we took the kids to a local park where they had fun with rides and games!

This Made Me Smile!

I believe that sometimes God gives you little moments in life to cherish just as much as the big moments.
We have our washer and dryer in the smaller house that is next to the house that we actually live in.
Breann stayed for the after school program today. After we got home from picking Troy up from school, I noticed that his hat was in the back seat and put it on his head and told him to be sure to take it inside. He turned around once out of the vehicle and got his backpack and walked to the front of the house and waited there on me while I went in the smaller house to put something in the dryer. Whenever I turned around, I had to smile, because this is what I saw...
troyanddog
Our son was standing there petting on our dog, Mason (our German Shepherd that is almost three months old). I know the picture isn't as clear as it could be, but I had to take it with my cell phone as since I was doing everyday tasks, I didn't have my camera around, but had to capture this moment. And...I know that I just saw something simple...our son petting our dog after a long day at school and before he even went into our house...and our dog greeting our son before he even went into the house...another what could be an everyday thing...but sometimes that is the things that are more picture perfect than anything else...the something simples in our life...and I am blessed enough to say that this is one of my something simples.

Stuff My Son Will Say!!!

LOL

We have one of those themed decorative lotion dispensers to go with the decorative theme of our bathroom. This morning...my son asked me why there was no lotion in our lotion dispenser in the bathroom...I then turned around and told him I just hadn't put any lotion in the dispenser...and asked him how he knew that there was no lotion and continued to ask if he had tried to play with the dispenser and find out if anything would come out of it and he truthfully answered YES! LOL I guess his goal was just to make a huge mess of whatever the container may of held inside (lucky for me and his dad there was nothing in the container).

Well anyhow...while I was putting on my make-up both of my kids were standing talking to me and then it was time to put on the eyeliner...

Troy: Mommy, why do you draw on your eyes?

Me: (Laughing, of course, because although make-up can sometimes make some of us look better it is kinda' silly when you think of it...we tell our kids not to draw on themselves and then we do it...anyhow...my reply) Well...this is eyeliner, I use it to line my eyes.

Troy: But...it is a pencil.

Breann: Yeah, and she has a sharpener for that thing and everything.

Me: Yes, but it is especially made for the eyes. Nobody should ever try this with a regular pencil...it could really hurt the eye. And nobody should ever stick anything in their eyes that is not made for the eye...(I wear contacts).

Breann: Maybe I will try it...(talking about the whole eyeliner thing).

Me: But not with a regular pencil and besides you aren't wearing make-up yet.

Breann: I know!

Troy: Well...sissy will do it when she grows up!

A Tough Week!

This past week sure has been rough, but we made it through it and came out stronger together as a family!

meandtroy2ve9
One of the highlights of the week, however, was that Breann had a play with her Gifted and Talented program. There were only two soloists in the play and my daughter was one of them. I am a very proud Mommy! =-)

The students who participated in the Gifted and Talented program get to go on a field trip to see a play and get to go out to eat today (Monday). Breann seemed very excited about that! =-)
