Not Just Any Accessory

My photography assignment/challenge today was to take a photo of an accessory. Breann gave me the idea to take a photo of her ring, and I thought it was a great idea. This ring, though, is not just any accessory. It was in my Mom's jewelry box. Bre wears it a lot, and it's become something very special to her.

Standing on HIS Truth!

I won't mention any names, but apparently an adult had a debate with my daughter on whether Jesus is real. Breann stood her ground for what she believes and backed it up with scripture. That's how we all need to be, unashamed, kind, and honest because everyone needs the truth.

This came from a 13 year old girl to a grown man that Breann has to see often throughout the week and this happened in front of many people. He tried to even ask Bre how she knew that Jesus existed and asked her if she saw him carry the cross. She said "no, but I know He's real." She then was able to back up what she said with scripture.

My point in this is not to gossip so I'm not mentioning who this man was, but my point is how a young girl was bold enough to take a stand for the truth against what an adult said. My point is we all should do this! And last but not least, my point is youth ministry does work. If you ever have those days you wonder whether or not it does any good then know that it does. Bre asks me almost every Sunday if it's a day for youth. Youth ministry does matter and because of what my kids are learning at home and at church they can take a stand for the truth. I'm grateful they do!

Her Blanket

I got this blanket one year for Christmas when our daughter was really little. She loved the blanket so much I soon gave it to her. She slept with this blanket (and still does, even as a teenager), sat with this blanket, and took it almost everywhere she went. She often rubbed the soft edges of it against her mouth, and made the edges worn. She still has and loves this blanket.

It's the Simple Things!

The other day, while I was making dinner, Breann sat at the table and was working on a drawing. I was mixing up the batter for homemade biscuits and I decided to work on what I could of it at the table as well. My main reason for deciding this was because Breann was talking. She was telling me about her drawing and about her day. It's moments like these, as simple as being at home, me making dinner, her in the kitchen drawing a picture, and us caught up in conversation that I appreciate the most! These kind of moments I hold dear to my heart, and I hope that it's moments like these...the simple non-extravagant moments...just family time...that my children will always appreciate as well!

A tooth is worth what?!?

The kids have been losing a lot of teeth lately and Breann lost a tooth the other day and although she doesn't believe in the tooth fairy any longer (except on the days she loses a tooth) she felt it necessary to place her tooth inside of this bag with a note written on the front to let the tooth fairy know her tooth was worth $1.00.

Wow! I remember when I was a kid the price for a tooth was a quarter...how times change! :)

Breanns First Softball Game of the 2010 Season!

It was windy (and I am wind burned), but it was so worth it!  Breann is on the Braves team this year.  Her dad is helping coach and that is SUPER as he coached last year as well.  It is her second year playing and it was the first game of the season on Saturday.  And...Breann's team won!  Go Braves!!!

Macaroni and Cheese is Great!

Especially when you have a litte girl who is sick.  It started about Sunday night, she ended up with a cough, then had a fever yesterday of 100.5.  I took her to the doctor and she has strep.  :(  She is taking her meds., gettin' plenty of rest (well...as much as a girl her age can get), and being pampered with watching tv on the couch and we even had macaroni and cheese for lunch.  :)

The snow we had last month that ended up still going into this month was a HUGE snow and the kids loved it!  :)

This past summer as we were planting stuff in our garden, we decided to let the kids plant their very own pumpkin plant.

Fair 2009

We have had a blast at the county fair over the past few days...and while some photos was taken with my good camera, some were just taken when all I was carrying around was my cellphone...so some were taken by my cellphone camera...either way, I am glad I got to get these moments on camera!

From things as simple and fun to the kids eating ice cream...

To us seeing Billy Dean in concert (which I had saw him before, but it was years ago and this time around Breann and her friend Gracie got to meet him and get an autograph)...



It was SO funny...as we were turning to leave after Breann got the autograph and picture done with Billy Dean, she turned around and said "Bye"(in kinda' a squealing/excited voice), and he kinda' mimicked her and told her bye.


Troy wasn't as much into the concert thing, but he had fun playing with his friend Hunter.



We also went to a section where they keep some animals and the kids got to see a few farm animals (and even hold a baby chick...and so did I)!

And we have even seen some roping competitions a few nights.

We have been to the fair a few times the past couple of days (and plan to go at least one or two more times before it ends, as we promised the kids...as long as the weather holds up and stuff that they could ride the rides once all of them are set up)...

Needless to say...we have had lots of fun!
