Thanksgiving 2014

This Thanksgiving, it snowed.  We woke up to an almost white ground.

thanksgivingnov27th2014twosnow

We got up, Bre helped me put the ham and turkey in the oven, then Justin, the kids, and I watched the Thanksgiving Day parade on television.  It's kinda' become a tradition at our house to watch the parade while drinking something warm (coffee, hot chocolate, etc.).  This year we had coffee and whipped cream with caramel on top!  :)

On this day (and everyday) we are thankful for each other.  We're thankful for the Lord, family, and friends.  Yes, we have thankful hearts, today (and everyday)!

There has been laughter and smiles and family.  Memories have been made.

There has been thoughts of past Thanksgivings, memories made today that will last us years to come, and talk of future Thanksgivings!

Our Day Before Thanksgiving

Today, it snowed, and we started getting ready for Thanksgiving.  Memories of my parents are on my mind, and I already miss them this Thanksgiving Eve so very much.  Memories of Thanksgivings past are definitely on my mind.  Memories that will be made tomorrow are also something that I look forward to.

The kids' smiles this morning about the snow that was laying on the ground made my heart happy. The simple things are definitely sometimes the best things. Things like snow on the ground could very well be some of God's greatest gifts to bring smiles to my children's faces, and their smiles bring a smile to my face! This is the best!

As we continued with the day...Bre and I read library books and Troy played video games.

Justin worked, Bre and I went to the grocery store to pick up a few last minute things for dinner tomorrow, and I started making some of the food preparations for tomorrow.

I wrote a good Bible verse that "fits" for the holiday on the dry erase board on our fridge, and we all four ate dinner together as a family this Thanksgiving Eve (we had hot dogs).

Thanksgiving 2011 Gathering!

momashandbresitepicThis year was a Thanksgiving filled with happiness, blessings, and sorrow all at the same time.  As I have posted about numerous times this year, my dad passed away in August, so it was our first Thanksgiving without him so there was a lot of sorrow that still filled this Thanksgiving.  I missed his yearly tradition of saying the blessing at my parents table, his smiling face, and his voice and laughter.  On the other hand, I felt incredibly blessed with the memories I have of him and the family I have as each and everyone is a blessing.  My family brings me happiness and God has blessed me in so many ways.

On Thanksgiving Justin, me and the kids were all off from work and school, we began the day with watching the Thanksgiving parade on TV while having coffee and hot chocolate, then went to Cracker Barrel to spend the early part of the evening with my mom, brother and his wife and kids.

We then went over to my husband's mom's and spent the rest of the evening with his mom, sisters and their husbands and kids.

Where I got a video of all of the kids (minus Bryce, seeing as how he is only two months old) dancing. Its in the Members Area, so if you have access, be sure to take a look...very cute!

It was a great evening and a blessed Thanksgiving!

What I'm Thankful For...

img4770sitepicLife...without it, well...I obviously wouldn't be here typing this.

Salvation...without it life would be nearly meaningless as we would not even have a hope for eternity.

God...without Him all things (including salvation) would be impossible.  He is my best friend, my Heavenly Father, and the One I turn to when times are rough and praise when the times are good.

Family...they are my everything in this world.  I have two great parents, a husband, two kids, a brother, and the ordinary (yet extraordinary) nieces, nephews and extended family.

Even our pets...they make me smile!

Food...well, without it life would not be possible.  I especially am thankful for the turkey and the stuffing on my plate today and the broccoli casserole and bean salad...YUMMY!!

Our Home...yes, we built our house, and I LOVE everything about it.  It is a lot of work, but it is SUPER!  Yet, a home is SO MUCH MORE than a house.  A home is family and love combined.  Then if you intertwine your faith in with that love and family everything is just the way it should be...no...its more than it should be...its as near to perfect as perfect can get in this world.

My Health...I have all of my fingers and toes, I can see (well...as long as I have my contacts in or my glasses on), and I don't have any major illnesses.

My Husband and My Kids Health...they have all of their fingers and toes too.  :0)

Friends...we have some of the greatest friends we could ever ask for.

The Beautiful Autumn Colors...I know most of the leaves have fallen off of the trees by now...but there are a few whose leaves remain...and its BEAUTIFUL!

My Prayer...
  • First, is for my Mother's health...I love her dearly and as I have explained, she is on the list for a lung transplant.
  • For me to never forget the blessings I have been blessed with and for me to never lose my faith when the going gets tough...but instead look to the One who makes everything possible.  All things are possible with God!
  • For those who don't get to spend the holiday with their family.
  • For those who don't have food, the homeless, the sick, the heavy burdened...
  • For my family to always know how much I love them and how thankful I truly am for each of them!
In Jesus Name, Amen

Our Thanksgiving Weekend...

Thanksgiving weekend was blessed! We had family, food, and a good time. We also had a new visitor to show up at our house a few days prior to Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving 2007...

Our very first Thanksgiving in our new house was WONDERFUL! My parents, my brother, his wife, their kids, Justin, me, and our kids all had a super time! I made my very first Thanksgiving dinner which consisted of: ham, turkey, stuffing, corn, mashed potatoes, bean salad (a favorite of my family's...my Mom makes it every year), cole slaw, rolls, and pecan pie for dessert.

A few days or so before Thanksgiving, Breann had a Thanksgiving play and me and her Papaw Gene and his other half Lorene all went to the play. Breann was a Narrator and a Pilgrim in the play!

The kids also did some neat little projects at their schools for Thanksgiving!
