A Fall Outdoor Evening

A nice evening outdoors! Coffee, kids' laughter while they're playing ball, and my husband on his way home from work. ♡ I love our family. I'm so very blessed!

As She Grows

The other day I was off from work and decided to pick the kids up from school when school dismissed.  I've been picking the kids up from school for most of the years they've been in school.  Something I've always tried to make it a point to do as I picked them up is first of all asked them how their day was and then I'll make sure they have their homework and whatever else they may need to take home with them.
As I picked my daughter up from school the other day though, I found that my mind began to think back.  This is her last year of elementary school, and she and her friends gathered around me at the spot where I pick my kids up.  My daughter's friends were saying how she looked like me and we all were laughing and talking.  As we laughed and talked I noticed how much she has grown up though.  Yes, she's just recently started her teenage years, but compared to her other elementary school years I see the difference.
As we walk past the buses to our vehicle, I silently think of how as she tells me about her day, I no longer am looking down to see into her little eyes, but I look right next to me...right across from me, as she is as tall as I am.  She then stops and still does something she has did for most of her childhood, she picks me a flower.  I hope she never grows out of that, the simple things are sometimes the best!  This flower that can grow just about anywhere, I guess, it is better than even a store bought dozen of roses.  My daughter stopped long enough, while in the process of telling me about her day, to pick a flower to give to me, that is something that she has not outgrown, and I hope she never does!  She's this beautiful girl with a kind heart, and she is now as tall as I am, and she is the best daughter I could ask for!
As we got in the vehicle, the teenager in her came back out though, and insisted that she, her brother, and I take a selfie photo.  These are the days worth remembering!

Spending Time Outdoors

One day, a week or so ago, we decided to spend some time outdoors. It was late evening, almost dark, but we had a good time! The kids played football and I took pictures while they made memories.

I also got a photo that evening of Easter lilies growing in our yard. God is the greatest artist, He decorates our world with such beautiful things, we just need to take the time to notice them!











I'm so blessed! We have such a great God! :)

A Flower the Kids Picked for Me

One day last month the kids gave me this beautiful flower.

Snow, January 2013!

We got snow on January 17th, quite a bit of snow, actually...and here is some of what has been involved in our days since:


Well...our power went out, but only overnight, so that was a good thing that it wasn't any longer than that!

The kids were okay with it though because they got to build a snowman (and a few photos are in the Members Area of their fun time in the snow/getting ready to play in the snow)!

We also made tasty treats after the power came back on (we made fudge and wontons...this was my first attempt at wontons, and the kids loved them)!  The wontons have a cream cheese and green onion mixture inside of the cooked wonton wraps.  Yummy!  :)

Snow October 2012

  Here is the snow we got due to weather from the side of Hurricane Sandy. The kids and I even built a snowman (even though the snow melted rather quickly) and it held a sign saying "Thanks Sandy"...our snowman made the news!  :)


Troy decided to spend the time he spent inside by building a tower out of change. He also wrote me this note telling me how many pennies he counted.

A Fun Fall Day!

A fun day at home, making snacks (a veggie bar and "Snickers Caramel Apple Salad"), and making forts!

Our dog, Bo was put up in the building for a bit, because he kept knocking the kids fort over, but once they let him back outside, he was happy to do it again, and then play with a soccer ball ontop of it!

Halloween Party 2012

Last night we went to a Halloween party thrown by one of our Best Friends. Breann is being a Sock Monkey this year and Troy is dressing up as a Navy Seal (Bo even had to get in one of the photos).


Anyhow, here are some of the photos I got at the party, from the kids dressed up (before we left home), to the decorations and even our friend, Jeff, dressed up as a vampire.

Troy's Hiking Trip for Cub Scouts 2012

Troy had his first hiking trip for Cub Scouts this past Sunday. Although I was working, Justin and Breann also went along and they got some pretty neat pictures!!

Kids VBS 2012!

The kids attended VBS (Vacation Bible School) last week at a nearby Church that we have been attending.  They took friends and they all learned even more about God and had fun while doing so.  They made crafts, had a program, and they each received awards for Perfect Attendance and for bringing a friend!!  The kids also thought it was pretty fun that a member of the Church who also helped host the VBS offered to dress up like a clown if at least a certain number of kids knew their Bible memory verse...and she had to dress up like a clown on the day of the program!  :-)

A Fun Day of Swimming and Even More Firsts!

This past weekend we spent a fun day at the swimming pool.  Breann had a very interesting day as well, as she jumped off of the low diving board without any floats for the first time, which I also have a video of, and Troy jumped off of the diving board (including the high diving board), but he still has to have floats at this point, but he still does super, (and I also happen to have a video of that)!!

Even at 11 and 8 years old, I realize that my two kids have had many "firsts" in their lives (such as first steps, first words, etc.), and even at this age they are still growing and learning.  I am so happy to be their Mom and experiencing these firsts, seconds, thirds, and so on and so on with them!!  I am definitely blessed to be called their Mom!

Anyhow, it was a fun day at the pool this past weekend, marked with another "milestone" and even more memories.  I am so thankful for the memories that we have created, the ones that we are creating, and the ones we will create.  Have I said it already?  I am blessed!

The Local Festival...

This past weekend there was a local festival going on in the area with a Kids Fishing Day and rides and characters for the kids (you can see the picture below of some of the stuff we did, with a photo of Breann, Troy, Troy's friend Jackson, and Mickey and Minnie).
 They had a lot of great prizes during the Kids Fishing Day, each of the kids got a ticket where they drew the ticket numbers for the ones with winning tickets to choose something from like bicycles, a fishing pole, tents, etc.  For some reason Troy's number was never called, which was a real bummer, but Breann won a bicycle, which we were pretty excited about!!  :-)

Kids Spring Break 2012!

Well the kids had Spring break beginning Easter weekend and lasting through last week.  We had so much fun, from playing games to going to the park, to making Easter treats and celebrating Easter, it was great!!

I even surprised them by buying them these cupcakes that read Happy Easter on them, they loved them!

 

And...the kids made me these Easter cards, I love them!! :-)

Time at the Park!

With the warm weather and all, I took the kids to the park to play the other day.  Then I surprised them by taking them for milkshakes!!

They had so much fun!!

Oh...and Breann had to make it a point to have me to grab it on my camera that she can skip a bar each time she climbs the monkey bars.  She still makes me nervous on them...seeing as how she broke her arm on the monkey bars at school when she was in first grade...I must give her room to grow though...after all she is in fifth grade now, time is surely flying!

Our Evening of Bowling

This past weekend we took the kids bowling.  They were SO super excited, as they have been asking to go for a few weekends now, and we decided to go ahead and take them for a fun, eventful evening.  And...might I say...Justin is so much better at bowling than I am, but it was fun!!  Plus, the kids had a great time!!

Seasons Greetings from Our Family!

Well, this year has holidays that are filled with blessings as well as sadness.  This year is the first year we will be celebrating the holidays without my dad, a very sad time indeed, but I will always hold dear the memories of him in my heart and in my life.  It also will be filled with many blessings, each family member, each friend, and the joy that each of them bring will bring happiness to this time as well.

Fair 2011

This past week was the fair and while it rained a huge part of the week, we were able to enjoy the fair on the weekend.  My mom came over and spent the weekend so the weekend was filled with shopping, going out to eat, visiting a nearby overlook and going to the county fair. 

At the fair we saw Craig Campbell in concert, and Saturday the kids got to ride unlimited rides!
