This week has had some major sadness, some major happiness, and has been eventful to say the least.
Sunday, I had a really hard time, as it was one year ago Sunday that we buried my dad. It was a very hard week last week and a very hard day for me Sunday...I have pretty much did okay over the last year (with the exception of the first couple of months)...after I kinda' got used to my dad being gone and I learned my own way of getting used to his death I pretty much was okay. But then last week hit me so surprisingly...I mourned most of the week, and even had to walk out during Church service because I was in tears. After we got past the dreaded "one year" mark though...I am pretty much back to my everyday self. It is still hard, each day is hard...there is not a day that goes by that I would not like to call up or visit my dad instead of just placing flowers on his grave, but God doesn't intend for that to be and I have to trust that He knows best!
Anyhow, onto brighter things...(although upon the thought of my dad not being in pain and actually one day seeing him in Heaven makes me at least happy about the above mentioned)...but...onto the rest of the week...one of my favorite things...food (spiritual and physical)...first we will go with the most impotant, my spiritual food...my daughter's Youth group recently started her reading a Bible app called YouVersion, if you just happen to be on there or join, then my username is jessicaslilcorner if you would like to follow me on there by the way. This is a great, and I do mean, GREAT app...it has all kinds of reading plans (which I am still new to the app myself, so I just started my first reading plan this week on "Wisdom"...hey, it fit with life right now as it is my kids first week back to school). It just is a great app! See my post about it here!
As for the physical food, I made these great sandwiches this week. They were on this onion type of bread and they were just oh so yummy. Troy and I also enjoyed pecan pie for dessert, I think Breann likes pecan pie but she just wanted something else for dessert this week and Justin doesn't like pecan pie all that well, I was quite excited about the pecan pie though!
Then...yesterday, my kids started back to school. Breann is now in the sixth (yes, the sixth) grade and Troy is in the fourth (yes, the fourth) grade. Wow...I feel like life goes by so quickly!!
So...it has been an emotional week...some happy moments, some sad moments, but I feel blessed and I am thankful!

Thanks so much for visiting me today! I am so sorry you're having a rough anniversary of your fathers death. It is wonderful tho that you remember where he is. He is happy and in heaven with Jesus!
ReplyDeleteand yes, switching topic...
my kids started school yesterday. It's nice that they're not coming out to my office and acting bored... or wasting their time even tho I hound them to practice piano or taekwondo, clean their room or go ride a bike... My 12 year old was glad to go back to a structured schedule! She was the biggest abuser of an unstructured schedule all summer... So go figure!
Have a blessed day!

ReplyDeleteI am sorry for the loss of your father. My dad passed away 15 years ago. I can tell you that it does get easier, but there will always be times when it comes back around to hit you hard again. It stinks, but I guess that's life, right?
ReplyDeleteI love pecan pie! I think it's one of those love it or leave it kind of desserts though. Some people think it's a yucky mess of goo, but I find it irresistable lol.
